Top Tips for Acing Your Job Interview

1> Prep!

🎯 Research the company.

🎯 For every listed skill and duty in the job posting, identify examples that demonstrate your applicable experience.

🎯 Be ready to answer "Tell me about yourself." Keep this related to work, but incorporate personal anecdotes like why the company or type of work is important to you.

🎯 Practice!

🎯 Know what questions you have for the interviewers.

2> During

⌚ Show up on time.

👚 Dress appropriately.

👂🏼 Be engaged; listen.

🤔 It's OK to say, "I need to think about that for a minute" to gather your thoughts for a response.

😁 Be yourself and believe in yourself!

👣 Ask for next steps and expected timeline.

3> After

🙏🏼 Send a thank you email within 24 hours. A quick, "I appreciate the interview team's time today," is fine. If you want to re-emphasize some points or share something you forgot to mention during the interview that is fine also, but don't rehash your resume in the thank you.

📨Follow-up. If you haven't heard from the person you met with (or recruiter) within the timeline they provided, reach out for an update. My tip: do this up to twice within 7 business days. If you still haven't heard anything, move on.

If you're looking for help with your resume or interviewing, I can help! If there is a free resource, I'll point you to it. If you want 1:1 time, we can discuss a solution for your individual needs. Schedule 20 minutes with me to chat.
