Top Tips for Acing Your Job Interview

1> Prep!

๐ŸŽฏ Research the company.

๐ŸŽฏ For every listed skill and duty in the job posting, identify examples that demonstrate your applicable experience.

๐ŸŽฏ Be ready to answer "Tell me about yourself." Keep this related to work, but incorporate personal anecdotes like why the company or type of work is important to you.

๐ŸŽฏ Practice!

๐ŸŽฏ Know what questions you have for the interviewers.

2> During

โŒš Show up on time.

๐Ÿ‘š Dress appropriately.

๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿผ Be engaged; listen.

๐Ÿค” It's OK to say, "I need to think about that for a minute" to gather your thoughts for a response.

๐Ÿ˜ Be yourself and believe in yourself!

๐Ÿ‘ฃ Ask for next steps and expected timeline.

3> After

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Send a thank you email within 24 hours. A quick, "I appreciate the interview team's time today," is fine. If you want to re-emphasize some points or share something you forgot to mention during the interview that is fine also, but don't rehash your resume in the thank you.

๐Ÿ“จFollow-up. If you haven't heard from the person you met with (or recruiter) within the timeline they provided, reach out for an update. My tip: do this up to twice within 7 business days. If you still haven't heard anything, move on.

If you're looking for help with your resume or interviewing, I can help! If there is a free resource, I'll point you to it. If you want 1:1 time, we can discuss a solution for your individual needs. Schedule 20 minutes with me to chat.
